Multi-Age Education

Introduction

Multi-age education, or the one room school house model, provides children with many learning opportunities simply not available in an age divided classroom.  Whether it is assisting younger children in the learning of a new concept or drawing on the expertise from an older child, children in the multi-age classroom benefit from a rich, socially dynamic atmosphere.  Another advantage of multi-age education is that children within this classroom must be taught in an individual or small group manner, with respect to their personal abilities in subjects such as English and Math.  Consequently, instruction becomes more accurately targeted within these low teacher to student ratio groups.
